Approach to the Elective

The elective has been designed to give you a broad overview of women’s health and is modified based on feedback each year. Every effort has been made to make the rotation a learning experience, with service balanced with education.

Course Details/Requirements

Arrive on time to get the maximum experience in women’s health. The clinics are an opportunity to refine your pelvic and breast exam skills. You can mark your progress by completing pre rotation and post rotations exams. An electronic syllabus is available. A Toolkit of essential women’s health resources is also provided.

External Clinics

Benign Breast, Metabolic Bone, and LARC Clinics are located elsewhere. Check your schedule as clinics are variously located.

AV Library

This is available for your use while you are on site. “The Pill” documentary is a good place to begin your exploration of the social aspects of contraception. Other topics include sexual dysfunction, contraception, abortion, adolescent pregnancy, maternal mortality, emergency contraception, and tobacco use.

Feedback

You will hear how you are doing during the rotation and there this a formal feedback session at the end of the rotation.
